The Right Reverend John C. Bauerschmidt,
Bishop of Tennessee

The Reverend Anne Fraley, Priest-in-Charge

The Rev. Anne Fraley, a native of Connecticut, grew up in the Quaker tradition and was an active member of her Friends Meeting through high school. Her involvement in her community of faith led her to attend Earlham College, a small, Quaker liberal arts school in Richmond, IN, where she received her BA.

Responding to God's call to ordination she attended Berkeley Divinity School at Yale, and was ordained deacon in 1994.  She spent her first year after seminary as Pastoral Assistant at Christ Church Cathedral, Hartford, where she was ordained priest.  After her ordination she accepted a call as Associate Rector at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in St. Louis, MO, where she served four years.

She came to the diocese of Tennessee in 1999 to serve as vicar of The Church of the Epiphany, where she then became their rector after the church gained parish status.  Following her time at Epiphany she served the churches of the Southeastern Tennessee Episcopal Ministry (STEM) as their first missioner in a newly formed regional ministry in the diocese.

Anne worked with STEM until 2005, when she embarked on a new vocational journey developing a creative arts ministry.  That ministry incorporates the production of her own creations using paper crafts and photography to make greeting cards, as well as Anglican prayer beads, which are made by her husband, Ken. Her ministry also explores the relationship and intersection between creativity and spirituality. She continued to serve the diocese as supply and interim priest.

Anne returned to Epiphany as supply priest in the spring of 2008, and was appointed priest-in-charge by Bishop Bauerschmidt in October of that year. She is delighted to be back at Epiphany among old and new friends!

In addition to her work in the church, Anne enjoys being a Pampered Chef consultant, photography, scrapbooking and the “domestic arts” of cooking, sewing, needlework and home decorating.  She also dabbles in genealogy when she finds the time, and has a passion for anything Scottish.  She and Ken live in Lebanon with their two dogs.
